In anticipation of the winter season and the challenges posed by extreme weather conditions, Tawang DC Kanki Darang has issued a comprehensive advisory aimed at ensuring public safety for tourists planning to visit high-altitude destinations.
Precautionary Measures
The advisory emphasizes the importance of checking the latest weather forecasts and road conditions before embarking on journeys to popular high-altitude destinations such as Bumla Pass, Shongetser Lake, PT Tso, and Sela Pass. Tourists are strongly advised to avoid traveling to these areas during heavy snowfall and other severe weather conditions.
Vehicle Preparation
To prevent accidents on snow-covered roads, tourists are urged to equip their vehicles with non-skid chains. Additionally, visitors are advised to pack adequate warm clothing, emergency kits, and communication devices to cope with unexpected situations.

Health and Safety Guidelines
The advisory also highlights the health risks associated with high-altitude travel. Individuals susceptible to or diagnosed with high-altitude sickness are cautioned to avoid visiting regions like Bumla and Sela Pass. Prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures should also be avoided.
Frozen Lakes and Emergencies
Tourists are strictly advised against stepping onto frozen lakes, as the ice may not be thick enough to support human weight. In case of emergencies, tourists should follow the instructions of local authorities, tour operators, guides, and rescue teams.
Information Dissemination
The district administration has requested all stakeholders, including ILP issuing authorities in Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Tezpur, and Bhalukpong, to inform tourists about these guidelines to ensure a safe journey.
With these measures in place, the Tawang DC aims to ensure that tourists enjoy their visit while staying safe amid challenging winter conditions.
