Civil Defence Volunteers Save Drowning Boy at Tezpur

On 29 December, 2024, at about 3:30 PM at Rudropath, Tezpur, two Civil Defence Volunteers, Suhail Ahmed and Abhijit Sharmah from Assam Civil Defence, Tezpur, demonstrated their bravery by saving a boy who was drowning in the river.

The two volunteers were on duty with Sonitpur Police, enforcing the Picnic SOP at Rudro Path picnic spot, when they heard cries for help from the boy. The boy had slipped into the water while washing his hands after a picnic. He had dropped his money in the river and, trying to retrieve it, slipped into the mud and started drowning. Upon hearing his cries, CDV Suhail Ahmed and CDV Abhijit Sharmah jumped into the water to save the boy. Their quick response and bravery prevented a potential tragedy.

After rescuing the boy, they took him to the River Police Station and later ensured he safely reached home by informing his guardian. The efforts and sincerity displayed by CDV Suhail Ahmed and CDV Abhijit Sharmah are highly commendable. Their quick response and the courage to make critical decisions in a timely manner demonstrate how Civil Defence saves lives.

This particular incident portrays the commitment of Assam Civil Defence volunteers in the field of safety measures and how they act very swiftly during any kind of emergency.
