Tezpur : Past President of IMA Assam Branch, Dr. Pramatheswar Barooah succumbs to Covid

Tezpur, Sep 23 : Renowned Doctor from Tezpur and Past president of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Assam State Branch, Dr. Pramatheswar Barooah succumbed to Coronavirus infection.

Dr. Barooh was 81 when he breathed his last on Wednesday night at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital.

IMA Assam State Branch has also expressed deep grief. “IMA Assam State Branch condoles the irreplaceable loss of its Past president and Eminent Physician, Philanthropist Dr. Pramatheswar Barooah” reads a statement of IMA Assam.

Dr. Barooah was serving as Consultant Physician at Tezpur. His organizational activity includes – member of IMA Tezpur Branch since 1974, Founder Secretary of Tezpur Clinical Society, General Secretary of IMA Tezpur Branch (1978 – 1984), State Vice President of IMA (1992 – 94), State President Elect; 1966. He also served in Association of Physicians of India, Assam Chapter as Senior Vice Chairman of in 1988, Zonal Secretary, North Zone 1991-1998 etc.
