Tezpur, Sep 24 : Sonitpur district administration on Thursday held a meeting with Presidents and Secretaries of various Puja Committees from across the district and discussed issues related to the upcoming Durga Puja celebration. Deputy Commissioner Bhupesh Chandra Das who chaired the meeting asked the committee members to observe the celebrations keeping in view the COVID 19 situation and as per guidelines issued by the State Government. A detailed guideline will be issued by the district administration in this connection, he informed.
The participants agreed to organise this year’s Puja on a small scale and do away with activities that lead to gathering of people.
ADC Romy Baruah asked all committee members to seek prior permission and maintain all social distancing and hygiene protocols while organising the Puja. Addl SP Safiqul Hussain asked the committee members to deploy volunteers, make arrangements for proper lighting, keep fire-fighting equipment at the ready, and arrange for smaller pandals so as to avoid large crowds.
Several related issues were also discussed in the meeting. ADCs Banti Talukdar, all Circle Officers, executive magistrates, heads of various Government departments were also present in the meeting.
