Deputy Commissioner Bhupesh Chandra Das on Saturday visited Burhachapori and took stock of the works on the SDRF scheme implemented by Water Resources department as part of a joint inspection by the WR department and district administration.
He later also interacted with the locals of the area and took stock of the issues being faced by the people of the area, main being floods, erosion and encroachment.
The issue of encroachment of forest land was also raised by the locals. Director, KNP, Dr. P Shivkumar was also present during the visit. The SDRF scheme is expected to reduce the threat of erosion to the the Wildlife sanctuary to a great extent. Executive Engineer, WR, Khanindra Barman and other officials accompanied him during the visit.
