Seva Hi Samarpan: Sonitpur observes “Seva Saptah” with Blood Donation & Health Camp

Sonitpur: To mark the 75th birthday of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Sonitpur district joined the rest of Assam in celebrating “Seva Hi Samarpan: Seva Saptah” with a series of community-focused initiatives from September 17, 2025. The events reflected the spirit of collective responsibility, service, and commitment towards the vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047.”


September 17: Blood Donation Camps

Two blood donation camps were held under the initiative of the District Health Society, Sonitpur:

  • Mahashraman Bhawan, Tezpur: Organised by Kanaklata Civil Hospital Blood Centre in collaboration with social organisations, the camp was graced by Hon’ble MLA of Tezpur LAC Shri Prithiraj Rava, ADC (Health) Twahir Alam, JDHS Dr. Jagadish Goswami, social worker Madhusmita H Deka, dignitaries, and donors.
  • Swahid Smarak Udyan, Dhekiajuli: A Mega Blood Donation Camp was organised jointly by the District Health Society, Tezpur Medical College & Hospital (TMCH), Kanaklata Civil Hospital, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, and local social organisations, bringing together officials, dignitaries, and citizens in a united effort towards community health. The camp was inaugurated by TMCH Principal and Chief Superintendent Dr. Karuna Hazarika in the presence of District Commissioner Shri Ananda Kumar Das, Co-District Commissioner of Dhekiajuli Smti Dyotiva Bora, Anchalik Panchayat Chairman Hemanta Deka, ZP Member Nirmal Das, Circle Officer Shri Nayan Jyoti Pathak, and several other officers, while enthusiastic participation from volunteers and residents reflected the spirit of “Seva Hi Samarpan.” The initiative not only promoted voluntary blood donation but also underscored Sonitpur’s collective commitment to service, unity, and public welfare.

September 18: Mega Health Camp under “Susrusha Setu”

On the second day, focus shifted to healthcare services through the inauguration of an LAC-wise Mega Health Camp at Bapuji Bhawan, Thelamara (Barchalla LAC).

  • The camp was opened by Barchalla MLA Shri Ganesh Kumar Limbu, alongside DC Shri Ananda Kumar Das, NHM Assam Executive Director Dr. Manoj Choudhury, and other senior officials.
  • The response was overwhelming with over 1700 registrations.
  • Facilities included 12 registration desks, 2 Mobile Medical Units, 1 General Laboratory, 13 OPDs, an AYUSH OPD, and a Cancer OPD.
  • Around 130 health professionals including doctors, paramedical staff, ASHA and ANM workers, and Social Welfare officials provided dedicated services.

  • Tezpur LAC → October 10 at Government Boys’ HS School
  • Dhekiajuli LAC → October 18 (Tentative) at Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College
  • Naduar LAC → October 26 at Tyagbir Hem Baruah College
  • Rangapara LAC → October 30 at Rangapara HS School

The observance of “Seva Hi Samarpan: Seva Saptah” in Sonitpur not only marked a heartfelt tribute to the Hon’ble Prime Minister on his 75th birthday but also showcased the power of collective service and community spirit. From voluntary blood donation to large-scale healthcare outreach, the initiatives received overwhelming public response, strengthening both healthcare systems and social unity.
