NCC ‘Vijay Shrankhala’ observed at Tezpur University by 5 ASSAM BN NCC, Group HQs (Tezpur)

Tezpur, 7th Dec : 5 ASSAM BN NCC, Group HQs (Tezpur) under the aegis of NCC Dte NER organized NCC ‘Vijay Shrankhala’ on the 4th Dec 2021 at the Council Hall, Tezpur University to felicitate the next of kin of Martyrs and war veteran of 1971 war with the Honourable Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University, Prof Vinod Kumar Jain as the Chief Guest. The event commenced with the arrival of the next of kin of the martyrs and war veteran of 1971 who were welcomed with the traditional ‘Assamese Gamusa’ by the NCC cadets. The NCC cadets of the Unit performed songs/poem presentation and also narrated the historical war situations in which the braves participated in the 1971 war.

The aim of NCC Vijay Shrankhala is to pay homage to the martyrs of 1971 war to commemorate the 50 years of India’s victory of 1971 war coinciding with the 75th Anniversary of India’s independence. NCC is felicitating all martyrs of 1971 war at 75 different locations across India as part of “Vijay Shrankhala and Sanskriti ka mahasangam” mega event from 28 Nov to 19 Dec 2021. The event was launched on the NCC Day on the 28th of Nov.

The event was attended by NCC cadets, Officers and personnel of the Unit and the Group HQ(Tezpur), faculty and students of the University. The Chief guest felicitated the NOK and the war veteran with presents and a memento. Speaking on the occasion the Chief guest expressed his deep respect and honour of the sacrifice made by the armed forces and exhorted the cadets to shoulder the responsibility of the future of the nation and narrated his nostalgic memories of the times of the war. Col Saniv Kumar, SC, Group Cdr, NCC Gp HQs (Tezpur Gp) opened the event by addressing about the aim of the event and its importance towards the awareness and respect by the citizens for its martyrs.

NCC Vijay Shrankhala event being organized today as part of 75 other events across the country would deservedly bring awareness among the population about the supreme sacrifices of the martyrs and also showcase cultural diversity and strengthen Unity in diversity.
