Recently a high profile case of cyber fraud has come to light where a fake Facebook account was created by fraudsters in the name of the Deputy commissioner of Sonitpur district, Mr Bhupesh Das.
A case of money demand was reported recently by a victim and messages were sent demanding money in the name of the Deputy Commissioner, Bhupesh Das. The victim immediately reported this to the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police
The case has been handed over to the cyber cell department and fast action is expected to uncover the criminals behind this fraud.
Meanwhile Bhupesh Chandra Das took to his official Social Media handle to notify the netizens, “Dear all… Some miscreants have opened fake account in my name and asking money and doing other correspondences. The matter has brought to cybercrime branch of Sonitpur Police. Kindly ignore any communication from this fb account“
