Noted Social Worker & Educator, Dimbeswar Basumatary passes away at 75

Tezpur, April 21 : Distinguished social worker, educator, and resident of Purani Ghatua area under Bahbari Mouza in Sonitpur District, Dimbeswar Basumatary passed away at the age of 75. His life came to a peaceful end last Friday at Tezpur Medical College after a long illness. Born on January 16, 1949, Late Dimbeswar Basumatary completed his matriculation at Chandranath Sarmah HS School in 1971, his higher secondary education at Tezpur College, and his graduation from Darang College in 1985. His career spanned decades, including service at Purani Ghatwa LP School and culminating as the CRCC of the Bandarmari cluster, from which he retired in 2013.

Late Dimbeswar Basumatary’s leadership roles included serving as the general secretary of the West Tezpur Anchalick ABSU from 1984 to 1986 and the Bahbari Anchalick Boro Sahitya Sabha from 1996 to 1999. He was also actively involved with various social organizations such as the Purani Ghatua Yubak Sangha, the Purani Ghatua Village Development Committee, the Bandarmari Puja Committee, the Bahbari unit of Asam Sahitya Sabha, and the Plains Tribal Council of Assam (PTCA) etc.

Upon the news of his passing, individuals from diverse backgrounds, along with members of the ABSU and Boro Sahitya Sabha, gathered at his home to honor his memory and pay homage to a soul whose contributions left an indelible mark on the community.
