As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, being observed all across the country to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence, an Exporters’ Conclave organized by District Industries and Commerce Centre, Sonitpur was held on Friday at the conference hall of Sonitpur Zilla Parishad Office. Deputy Commissioner Bhupesh Chandra Das inaugurated the conclave by lighting the ceremonial lamp, where around 19 SHGs, entrepreneurs, industrialists, exporters from tea, textile, agro products, food processing industry took part. An Export Guide Book on potential export items of Sonitpur district was also launched on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner Bhupesh Chandra Das in his speech appreciated the effort made by DICC Sonitpur and said the participation of experienced exporters in the conclave will boost the morale of the potential exporters who are taking part in the conclave and called upon the exporters’ community, industrialists, entrepreneurs to work in close coordination with the district administration to boost the economy of the district. He also promised to extend every possible help from the administration’s side towards this endeavour.
In his inaugural address, General Manager, DICC, Ranjan Kr Bhattacharyya said today’s conclave was organized as part of Banijya Saptah and hoped that it would provide a good start for the export scenario of Sonitpur district. The conclave is expected to help identify potential exporters and products and promote the district as an export hub.
CEO, Zilla Parishad Diganta Baishya, Professor, Dept of Food Engineering and Technology, Tezpur University, Dr Charulata Mahanta, Professor, Dept of Mechanical Engineering, Tezpur University, Dr Partha Pratim Dutta, Assistant Director, Tea board, Dr Amrita Chakraborty, were present as distinguished guests in today’s programme.
Among the eminent speakers who conducted the technical sessions at today’s conclave are Senior Principal Scientist, Dept of Spices and Flavour Sciences, Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore, Dr. B.B. Borse, Deputy Director, Indian Institute of Packaging, Kolkata, Bidhan Das, Asst Genereal Manager, APEDA, Sunita Rai, Propreitor, Adarsh Agritech, Pune, Vikas Nagawade.
During the sessions, topics related to processed food export, value addition to tea, spice processing technology and quality, latest trends in food packaging, experience sharing on export and import of agri-products, District Export Strategy, were discussed and later separate session on product pitching by potential exporters and an interactive session between buyers and sellers was also organized.
