Sonitpur Congress pays condolence to former CM of Assam Dr. Bhumidhar Barman

On Monday, 19 April 2021, Sonitpur District Congress in association with Sonitpur District Youth Congress, Sonitpur District NSUI and Sonitpur District Mahila Congress paid condolence to Former Chief Minister of Assam Dr Bhumidhar Barman.

The 91-year-old veteran Congress leader was admitted to a private hospital in Guwahati on March 13 due to old-age ailments. He had been on ventilation in the hospital ICU for the past several days.

Born on 12 October, he was an Indian Politician belonging to the Indian National Congress. He was the Chief Minister of Assam from 22 April 1996 to 14 May 1996.He was a member of the Assam Legislative Assembly being elected 7 times. He was first elected in 1967. In 2015, he was made a Cabinet Minister of Assam

State Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed condolences on the death of the veteran Congress leader. He said “Saddened to learn about the demise of former Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Bhumidhar Barman. My sincere condolences to his bereaved family members and well-wishers. Om shanti.”
