Ms. Daisy Rani Kalita, a Professor at Darrang College, has been awarded the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the Department of Economics at Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya (MSSV), Nagaon. Her thesis, titled “Women Entrepreneurship Through Micro-Enterprises: A Study of Sonitpur and Biswanath Districts of Assam,” was completed under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Ajit Debnath, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Economics, MSSV, Nagaon.
Ms. Kalita’s groundbreaking research sheds light on the significant role of women entrepreneurs in the micro-enterprise sector of Assam’s Sonitpur and Biswanath districts. Her work highlights the challenges and opportunities faced by these enterprising women and provides valuable insights into their contributions to the local economy.
Currently, Ms. Kalita is serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Darrang College, Tezpur. Her dedication to education and research has earned her recognition and respect within the academic community.
Ms. Kalita hails from a distinguished family in Tezpur. She is the daughter of Mr. Gagan Kalita and Mrs. Monti Mahanta Kalita of Ketekibari, Tezpur. She is also the daughter-in-law of Late Jatin Ch. Hazarika and Mrs. Ranu Hazarika of Kolibari, Tezpur. Ms. Kalita is married to Dr. Manoj Kumar Hazarika, the Principal of Tezpur College, and they are proud parents to Subhangkar and Nandeeni.
