On February 21, 2024, a crucial Election Preparedness meeting convened under the Chairmanship of the District Election Officer (DEO) and Returning Officer (RO) of Sonitpur, bringing together District Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) from Biswanath, Gohpur Sub Division, Lakhimpur, Udalguri, Koliabor Sub Division, and representatives from Arunachal Pradesh (Pake Kesang, Papum Parey, West Kameng). The meeting, held in the conference hall of the DC Office Sonitpur, served as a platform to deliberate on various administrative and security matters pertinent to the forthcoming General Elections to the Lok Sabha (GELS) in 2024.
