Tezpur, Oct 11 : International Day of the Girl Child was observed on October 11 throughout the world to raise awareness about the importance and potential girls hold as the future of our society. NGO Pajhra, working for preserving the rights of tea garden communities, also observed day at the Panbari Model High School, Dhekiajuli.
The program was attended by the students of the school, Gaon Pradhan of Chenimari and teachers. Social Worker & Child Rights activist, Shri Harshajyoti Phukan graced the event as the guest of honour. The program started with the speech from the chair of the guest of honour with special focus on the present day situation of every girl child in the community and protection of their rights and privileges were highlighted. Similarly, child protection mechanism and it’s schemes were also informed in the meeting. Later, the Goan pradhan, the school teachers also spoke on the importance of the day accordingly.
