In the last 24 hours, India recorded the biggest daily surge with fresh 93,249 Covid-19 cases, highest single day spike in last 5 months, pushing COVID-19 tally to 1,24,85,509, death toll to 1,64,623.
Daily deaths crossed 500 for the first time since December 4, with 514 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours.
“India’s active COVID-19 cases stand at 6,91,597, while 1,16,29,289 people have recovered from the disease so far” said Union health ministry.
Meanwhile Assam is also witnessing daily Covid Cases ranging between 50 and 60. What comes as a shocker is, Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma while in a rendezvous with a Nation Media said that there wasn’t any need to wear face masks for protection against Covid-19. “In Assam, there is no Covid-19, then why should people wear mask. How will the businesses run ? If people wear masks, how will the beauty parlours function ? We need to revive the economy now. Whenever Covid comes in Assam, I will inform the people” said Dr. Sarma
