A Half Yearly Crime Conference was held at the Convention Centre, Tezpur today on 28/7/24 from 11 am to 5 pm in presence of all the stakeholders of the Justice Delivery System along with the OsC/ICs of the PSs of the district. The meeting started with a Welcome Speech and Objective of the Conference by the Supdt of Police, Sonitpur. The ASP(Crime), Sonitpur presented the comparative Crime figures of the last 3 years.
The following points were discussed in the meeting:
- Presentation by CJM, Sonitpur on the basic procedural lapses in Case Diaries which give advantage to the Defence and lead to acquittal.
- The District and Session Judge, Sonitpur put forward important points to be kept in mind during seizure of NDPS cases. He explained the lapses with the help of situation based examples.
- The DIGP(NR) gave his valuable inputs on the recent change of Laws and to keep in mind the procedures to be followed under BNSS. He also talked about independent witnesses, circumstantial evidence during investigation.
- The DC, Sonitpur also gave his deliberation on land disputes and working on solving these issues with the help of Police Administration.
- The DFO, Western Wildlife Division talked on elephant and man conflict and steps to be taken to tackle the problem.
- The Transport Department was requested to provide the MVI reports online as soon as the request is received. MVI discussed the measures that are being taken to reduce accidents.
- The Supdt, KCH and The Supdt, TMCH were requested to provide the injury/PM reports on time and with proper specifications.
- The APP(Spl POCSO) talked on the loopholes of the Child Marriage Cases. The reason for acquittal of such cases and discussed on filing of Counter Prosecution.
- The Excise department was requested to conduct more checks on Arunachal Border to stop the flow of Arunachali Liquor.
- There was also an interaction session where the OsC/ICs put forward their doubts and it was addressed by the forum. The process of search and seizure was discussed in details. Also measures to be taken to release the lien amounts of Financial fraud were discussed.
The Supdt of Police, Sonitpur gave the concluding remarks and thanked all for their valuable inputs.
