On the occasion of 39th Death Anniversary of Martyr Bhupen Deka, Tezpur Regional Students Union, Former Student Leaders and public paid tribute to Bhupen Deka at Tezpur’s Bhupen Deka Path on Sunday.
On the other hand Ex MLA along with Sankalpa Asom paid tribute to the martyr at Mazgaon Swahid Bakori’s Swahid Bedi.
Martyr Bhupen Deka was one amongst the bravest student leader of Assam during the 1983’s Historic Assam Agitation. On an evening of March 20, 1983, Bhupen Deka received informations about illegal immigrants taking shelter at Laltapu near Jamuguri. Deka with his company without any fear of losing his life headed towards Laltapu, but was killed alone in a trap brutally by hundreds of illegal immigrants.
The sacrifice of Swahid Bhupen Deka is yet unsung, but still lits the fire of Regionalism in everyone’s heart.
