What Are Co-Districts?

Co-districts are like new service centers inside large districts. Their main purpose is to help people get government services faster and easier, such as land matters, welfare schemes, development works, civil supplies, and disaster management. By splitting districts into smaller co-districts, officials can respond quickly to local needs, making the system more efficient and helpful for everyone.

In the second phase of Co-District inaugurations, two new Co-Districts were officially inaugurated in Sonitpur district this week.

What This Means for People?

With each new Co-District, the Government of Assam aims to improve administrative efficiency and deliver timely services to every citizen. These reforms are expected to boost local development, make public services more accessible, and provide a smoother experience for residents. With the creation of the new Co-Districts, people living in the Barchalla and Rangapara areas will now have government offices much closer to their homes, eliminating the need to travel to the main district headquarters for many services. This will save them time, money, and effort.
