
Tezpur, December 14, 2025 (Sunday): Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari Tezpur Branch organised a vibrant Geeta Jayanti celebration at Lalmati on December 14, 2025, marking the 5127th anniversary of the Krishna-Arjuna Samvada from the Mahabharata’s Kurukshetra battlefield.

The event kicked off at 5:15 p.m. with the traditional lighting of a lamp, followed by three resonant Om-kars, chants from Vedic sacred texts, and the soothing Shanti mantra. Participants then performed Surya Pranam, leading into a graceful Bharat Natyam dance featuring Ganesh Vandana Stotram. The young performers, guided by Smt. Abha Baruah of Kalaguru Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Tezpur, delivered the performance with grace.

The cultural programme continued with a melodious rendition of ‘Borgeet’, accompanied by Khol and Taal, presented by Shri Suren Baruah and his two associates. The evening featured insightful speeches from prominent figures, including Dr. Neelkamal Pandit, Associate Professor of Sanskrit at Darrang College, Tezpur; two ISKCON Sannyasis from the ISKCON Matha in Dhekiajuli; and Gangaram Boro from Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari Tezpur Branch.

Bobby Bezbaruah from the branch anchored the proceedings smoothly. The residents of Lalmati formed an enthusiastic audience, immersing themselves in the spiritual atmosphere as devotion, dance, and reflective dialogue came together in a harmonious celebration.
