May 30, 2024, Gearing up for the International Day of Yoga 2024, District Commissioner Shri Deba Kumar Mishra presided over a preparatory meeting to discuss the central celebrations slated for Tezpur on June 21st. The gathering, held at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office in Sonitpur, Tezpur, also delved into organizing a 7-day Countdown Programme preceding the main event. Dr. Indranoshee Das, Joint Secretary to the Government of Assam, Health & Family Welfare Department and Director of AYUSH, Assam, accompanied the District Commissioner.
A 7-day countdown programme, is scheduled to unfold across the district from June 14 to June 20, 2024. During this period, various yoga-related events will be held at selected venues throughout the district, focusing on different topics each day to promote yoga and its numerous advantages.
The meeting saw attendance from key officials, including CEO ZP Karabi Saikia Karan, DDC Gaya Prasad Agarwal, ADCs, EOs of Municipal Boards under Sonitpur, Assistant Commissioners, officials of the National AYUSH Mission, Assam, and the Directorate of AYUSH, Assam. Additionally, representatives from the Air Force Station in Tezpur, educational and medical institutions, Yoga organizations, NGOs, and other concerned officials of the District Administration were present to contribute to the planning and execution of the upcoming events.
