Tezpur, Nov 28 : Minister for Water Resources, Parliamentary Affairs, Information & Public Relations, Government of Assam, Pijush Hazarika visited the areas adjoining the Jiyabharali river in Sonitpur district along with senior MLA, Padma Hazarika and officials of the Water Resources Department and the district administration.
The Minister interacted with the engineers and officials involved in the installation of a Cutter Section Dredger machine, to be used to dredge the river for the first time in the history of Assam and provide a permanent solution to the flood problem faced by the riparian people.
Addressing media he said, that the dredging work carried out using cutting edge technology will begin very soon in the presence of Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
