Missing Manipur minor girl rescued in Tezpur; kidnappers arrested
Tezpur, Jan 10 : A 13-year-old resident of Thoubal district in Manipur had gone missing nearly a month ago. A case was filed in this regard in December with Thoubal Women’s Police Station alleging that a private tutor named Thokchom Kenedy who is a resident of Khangabok Lamdaibung of Thoubal district lured and kidnapped the minor girl from her residence on December 15.
However a joint team of Manipur and Assam Police formed for this purpose has been successful in their operation and rescued the minor girl from Tezpur on Sunday.
Sources mentioned that they were brought to Thoubal Police station on Monday and that the girl was safely handed over to her family.
Noteworthy that the offender Kenedy has been married and is a father of two. He was produced before a local court and was later sent to police custody.
A coordinator of the Joint Action Committee Days Aribam thanked the members of the joint police forces for their efforts in rescuing the grade-eight student girl studying at Khangabok Higher Secondary School in Thoubal.
