On 9 December, 2024, Tezpur city witnessed a massive traffic jam due to ongoing road construction and a crowd of big buses carrying school and college students for excursion trips. The jam was seen from noon time around Silver Jubilee LP School, causing major inconvenience to commuters.
In response to the chaotic situation, Post Warden Bichitra Deka, ACD, CDV Suhail Ahmed, and CDV Abhijit Sarmah from Assam Civil Defence stepped in to manage and clear the traffic. Their swift and effective intervention ensured that two ambulances, which were stuck in the traffic, were able to move through and reach their destinations without further delay.
This incident highlights the urgent need for the traffic branch of Assam Police to implement better traffic management strategies to ensure public safety and ease of transport. Streamlining traffic flow, especially during such peak times and in areas with ongoing construction, is essential to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
