
Tezpur, June 23, 2025 (Monday): Union Cabinet Minister and President of Assam Olympic Association Sarbananda Sonowal participated in the Olympic Day celebration held at Polofield in Tezpur, marking a significant sporting event for the region. The celebration, organized by the Assam Olympic Association in association with Tezpur District Sports Association, brought together thousands of participants and dignitaries to honor the Olympic spirit and promote sports awareness.
The event saw the active participation of nearly 2,500 players and guests who gathered at the Polofield venue. The Assam Chambers of Commerce played a crucial role in organizing the celebration by setting up a comprehensive water and juice distribution camp to ensure all participants stayed hydrated throughout the event.

Among the notable attendees were Assam Sports Minister Nandita Gorlosa and renowned track athlete Hima Das, who currently serves as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). Their presence added prestige to the celebration and inspired young athletes present at the event.

The Olympic Day celebration aimed to promote the values of excellence, friendship, and respect that define the Olympic movement. Union Minister Sonowal took to social media platform X to share his thoughts about the celebration, highlighting the importance of such events in developing sports culture in Assam.
