Tezpur, Dec 19 : Department of Science & Technology (DST) funded Technology Enabling Centre (DST-TEC), Tezpur University on Thursday and Friday (15-12-2022 and 16-12-2022) organised a two day talk series by Professor Krishnan Sankaran, Professor of Eminence, National Networking Consultant-NHHI, Expert Advisory Group Member, DST and mentor to TEC. The event started with the welcome address by Professor Dhruba Kumar Bhattacharyya, Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University on 15-12-2022.
Professor Sankaran gave a talk on the “Origin and Establishment of National Hubs and Technology Enabling Centres- DST-TDT’s flagship programmes”.Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Nayan Moni Kakoty, Coordinator, TEC highlighted the role of TEC, Tezpur University and the activities conducted by it so far. “TEC is established to create an ecosystem for technological advancement in Assam and the neighbouring NE states’ universities and academic institutions”, Prof. Kakoty said. It also offers a platform for researchers to connect with other organizations, government laboratories, and corporate entities. The Centre plays a vital role in assisting entrepreneurs and innovators and tries to address their problems. Every month, TEC visits five different industries. The TEC of Tezpur University is moving forward to create a fruitful environment for the young innovators and entrepreneurs with the goal of providing assistance to every invention and entrepreneur, Prof. Kakoty elaborated.
On 16-12-2022, Shri Raj Kumar Mohnani, Assistant Director of Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) was present on the program. Addressing the gathering, Shri Mohnani enlightened the audience by outlining the purpose of MSMEs and by explaining several MSME programmes such as Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (CLSSS), Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) and talking about the advantages of technical upgradation, marketing expertise, and infrastructure assistance. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Sankaran provided insight into the significance of Made in India Healthcare Devices.The construction of an “ECOSYSTEM” to integrate the product with the market was another topic he discussed.
During the event, Madhuri Devi, President of Tezpur Agro and Allied Processors Industry Association TAAPIA and associated members from MSMEs were present. Representatives from JN Agro Industries that specialises on food products launched “Kausar Kheer” and their website. During the occasion, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between Tezpur University and Miss Upasana Boruah, local entrepreneur that will extend testing and quality analysis service for products developed by Ms. Boruah with the help of TEC using the inhouse infrastructure of Tezpur University.
