Tezpur, Nov 22 : Three youths were killed in two different road accidents at two places in Sonitpur district on November 21, 2022.
No matter how much awareness measures the Transport Department takes in the name of road safety, a group of unruly drivers appear as death messengers on the road. Every day or the other dangerous road mishaps are taking away lives of people.
Last night, a bolero pickup van, bearing vehicle number – AS12 BC 5167, which was on its way to Bhalukpong hit a youth, identified as Abhinash Das, who was on a Avenger bike, near Elephant Gate, Charduwar. Abhinash succumbed to death due to several injuries.
Again, two youths, identified as Suman Talukdar and Biju Singh, were killed when the speeding truck hit their bike on National Highway 15, near Nij Bihaguri, Tezpur. The truck driver tried to escape after causing the accident but the police managed to intercept the truck at Mission Chariali, Tezpur.
It is learnt that the accident took place around one o’clock in the night, where the two youths were on their way back after attending a marriage at relative’s place.
What is noteworthy is that the general pedestrians are worried about how long this race of motorists who cannot be controlled by the transport department will continue.
