Tezpur, May 18 : Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Tezpur Medical College & Hospital (TMCH) on Tuesday to review the COVID-19 preparedness & treatment facilities including beds, Oxygen, ICUs in Sonitpur district. He was accompanied by MP Topon Kumar Gogoi, Tezpur MP Pallab Lochan Das, Tezpur Legislator Prithiraj Rabha, Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur Shri Manavendra Pratap Singh, SP Mugdhajyoti Dev Mahanta, other MLAs, health and senior officials.
The Chief Minister directed TMCH authorities to ensure service of senior doctors in late night hours and efficient off hour management to reduce Covid mortality. He also notified that he would personally video call doctors on duty at 2 am everyday.
In his tweet, he consented that a 10% increase in positivity rate in Sonitpur is a cause of concern and he has directed DC & SP of Sonitpur to ensure efficient management of micro containment zones. He has also particularly asked them not to allow home quarantine of 50 yrs + patients unless they’ve separate toilets in their houses.
