
Tezpur, 9 March 2025: The Department of Commerce, Tezpur University (TU), successfully concluded its four-day annual commerce fest, “Vaanigyam,” today (9 March 2025), leaving participants enriched with knowledge and inspiration. The Sanskrit word “Vaanigyam,” meaning commerce, aptly captured the essence of the event, which showcased a diverse range of activities and insightful sessions.
During the four-day fest, many luminaries shared their thoughts and experiences. Prof. Chandan Goswami, Dean, School of Management Sciences, emphasized the significance of the annual commerce fest as a platform for students to develop crucial skills in team building and leadership. Prof. R.R Hoque, Dean, Academic Affairs, told the students that brilliant ideas come from small deeds, encouraging students to celebrate and value their everyday achievements.

Prof. S.S. Sarkar, former founder Head of the Department of Commerce, who shed light on the intricacies of blockchain technology methods. He also paid tribute to Bholanath Barooah, the pioneering entrepreneur of Assam and a doyen of Assamese business, urging the young students to emulate his path of entrepreneurial spirit and dedication.
The fest was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries of TU, including Dr. Reshma K. Tiwari, Head, Department of Commerce; Prof. K.C Biswal, Registrar; Dr. Biren Das, Controller of Examinations; Chief Proctor; Prof. Papori Baruah; and Prof. Santi Gopal Maji of the Department of Commerce.

“Vaanigyam” featured a plethora of innovative competitions designed to foster creativity and practical skills among students. These included trading, ad making, ideathon etc. providing participants with valuable hands-on experience in the field of commerce.
Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Tezpur University, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the organizers for their successful conduct of the commerce fest, highlighting its contribution to the academic and personal development of the students.
