Tezpur’s iconic Basanti Puja begins today at Garwanpatty, ByLane 1

Tezpur, April 18 : Like every other years, the Gymnastic Club in Garwanpatty ByLane 1, Tezpur is all geared up to celebrate its 54th Sri Sri Basanti Durga Puja.

The puja is all set to be observed from 18th April, which will be celebrated as Sashthi, Saptami on 19th April, Ashtami on 20th April, Navami on 21st April and Doshomi on 22nd April.

The committee members have communicated Tezpur Buzz that every possible steps will be taken to limit crowding amid the outbreak of COVID-19 and that the club will adhere to all guidelines set by the District Administration.

Basanti Durga Puja is celebrated in Spring (Basant). This puja is held in the month of Chaitra in Bengali calendar.

King Surath and Boishyo Samadhi worshipped Devi Durga as Durga Puja or Durgotsob (দুর্গোৎসব) at the ashram of Medhas Muni in the Garh Jungle of West Bengal. It was the first Durga Puja of world. They worshipped Devi durga in spring time. So, this festival is called Basanti puja (বাসন্তী পূজা) or “Basanto kalin durgotsob” (বসন্তকালীন দুর্গোৎসব).
