National Seminar in Tezpur Highlights Importance of Packaging, Branding & Marketing under PMS Scheme

In a move to boost the marketing capabilities of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Branch MSME Office in Tezpur organized a successful National Seminar on “Packaging, Branding & Marketing under PMS Scheme” at Hotel Welkin Residency on February 22, 2025. The event, conducted in association with DICC, Sonitpur and Edupur Foundation as knowledge partner, attracted 120 participants including existing and prospective MSMEs, start-ups, and postgraduate students from Tezpur University’s Start-up cell.
The seminar was graced by Chief Guest Shri Ankur Bharali, ACS, District Commissioner of Tezpur, Sonitpur, while Shri Lokesh Parganiha, IEDS, Joint Director of MSME Office, Guwahati, welcomed the participants. Shri Morgan Meston, GM-DICC, Sonitpur, outlined the objectives of the seminar, and Guest of Honor Shri Gurmeet Singh, Factory Head of Dabur India Ltd., Tezpur, addressed the gathering.

Expert speakers delivered comprehensive presentations covering crucial aspects of business development. Dr. Tabli Ghosh, Assistant Professor from the Food & Technology Department of Tezpur University, discussed the general aspects and importance of packaging. Shri Ritu Raj Phukan, Founder of Pencil Design Studio, Guwahati, shared insights on branding and design aspects of packaging. Shri Ashis Kumar Padhi, IEDS, Branch MSME-DFO, Tezpur, elaborated on DC (MSME) Schemes, while Shri Amit Raj Konwar, Director of Edupur Employment Services Pvt Ltd, Tezpur, focused on marketing strategies.
The Procurement and Marketing Support (PMS) Scheme, introduced to enhance the marketability of products and services in the MSME sector, formed the backbone of the discussions. The seminar acknowledged the challenges faced by MSMEs, including lack of information, scarcity of resources, and unorganized selling and marketing approaches, which often hinder their ability to explore new markets and retain existing ones.

The interactive session saw experts effectively addressing queries raised by participants, providing practical solutions to real-world marketing challenges faced by small businesses in the region. This seminar marks an important step in equipping local entrepreneurs with the knowledge and tools necessary to improve their packaging, branding, and marketing strategies, ultimately contributing to their business growth and survival in an increasingly competitive market.
