The Sonitpur District Administration organized a crucial awareness meeting on September 27, 2024, to prepare for the implementation of Mission Basundhara 3.0. Held under the chairmanship of District Commissioner Shri Ankur Bharali, ACS, the daylong event took place in Conference Hall-II of the DC’s Office. The meeting aimed to provide basic orientation to key stakeholders, including Mouzadars, Land Record Supervisors and Assistants, representatives from Public Facilitation Centres and Common Service Centres, and Gaon Pradhans from across the Sonitpur district.
Mission Basundhara is a program of the Government of Assam aimed at streamlining land revenue services and addressing various land-related issues in the state. Launched in 2021, the mission focuses on digitizing land records, resolving legacy disputes, and providing efficient and transparent land services to citizens.
Additional District Commissioner (Revenue) Shri Garga Mohan Das, ACS, opened the proceedings by presenting an overview of the district’s performance in Mission Basundhara 2.0 and outlining the path forward for the third iteration. District Commissioner Bharali then addressed the attendees, acknowledging the revenue department’s efforts in previous editions of the Mission. He urged Circle Officers to take a proactive role in studying and disseminating information about the new clauses and changes in Mission Basundhara 3.0 to all concerned revenue staff.
Emphasizing the importance of clear communication, DC Bharali stressed the need for proper explanations when rejecting applications, stating that most land-related conflicts could be resolved through better public understanding. He also reiterated the necessity of keeping land records updated in accordance with government rules and notifications. The meeting included discussions on the Escalation Matrix in RTPS services and E-CHITTHA, with DC Bharali describing the ongoing digitization of land records and services as “nothing short of a revolution” in public service delivery. The event was then followed by presentations by Circle Officers and Circle Officers (Attached) from the district, covering various aspects of Mission Basundhara 3.0.
