The Prof. Haren Bothra Memorial Prize Money Quiz Competition was held at the Tezpur Science Academy premises on Tuesday, i.e. 30th May, 2023. Check below for results
Late Prof. Haren Bothra was the founder of Tezpur Science Academy and is also a renowned environmentalist. Followed by the quiz competiton, Tezpur Science Academy also hosted the Prof. Haren Bothra Environmental Award, where a distinguished environmentalist is awarded for significant contributions towards environmental awareness, preservation and afforestation. Sri Horendra Nath Morang, HoD of the Dept. of History, Darrang College was awarded this year for his outstanding initiative ‘Udrupan- An Organisation of Urban plantation’ where hundreds of saplings has been planted and taken care of besides the main roads of Tezpur with a vision to promote greenery and sustainable development. Last year, the award was presented to Sri kumud Borah.
The events marks the birth anniversary of Prof. Haren Bothra. This is the second edition of the event and it was started in the year 2022. Many dignified personalities from various sectors were invited who shared their views on environmental issues, especially its degradation and ways for its protection.
Followed by the event, seven ‘Mahgony’ trees were planted by the dignitaries by an agreement for fifteen years, ensuring care and protection for the trees.
The quiz competiton, held in the morning session was led by Dr. Palashmoni Saikia, principal of the esteemed Darrang College.
