No mela, cultural events, food stalls – only religious rituals allowed at ghats on Chath Puja ~SDA

Tezpur, 07 Nov: The Sonitpur district administration on Friday i.e. 05th Nov held a meeting with various Chath Puja organizing committees in Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall.The meeting which was chaired by Addl Deputy Commissioner Romy Baruah was attended by Addl SP Shafiqul Hussain, Circle Officers, OCs of various police stations.

ADC Romy Baruah informed all present that in view of the prevalent COVID19 situation and as per latest instructions received from the Government, only five people per family will be allowed to perform Puja at the ghats maintaining social distancing and other protocols of COVID19, only religious rituals will be allowed at the ghats and no mela/ cultural events/ food stalls will be allowed near the puja pandals.

Children below five years and elderly people above 65 were requested to remain at home where possible. The Chath Puja Committee members were asked to carry out necessary awareness among the people and ensure these guidelines are strictly followed. Other issues such as fire safety measures, deployment of life-guards, medical teams, adequate volunteers and other related issues were also discussed in the meeting.
