Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva University promotes wellness through Yoga Workshops across Tezpur

In a display of dedication to community wellness, Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva University conducted yoga workshops throughout Tezpur from May 5-10, 2025. The university’s initiative, emphasizing physical and mental well-being for a better society, has been met with enthusiastic participation and support.

Three Master’s degree students—Sri Triton Deb Nath, Reshma Debbarma, and Smita Devi—led a comprehensive week-long program in Tezpur, bringing yoga’s benefits to various educational institutions and community organizations.

“Yoga is very necessary for the students of our college. This workshop has inspired the students to start their yoga journey,” remarked the Principal of Tezpur College, which partnered with the university for a two-day yoga camp.

The workshops introduced participants to diverse yoga styles including Hatha, Vinyasa, and Restorative yoga. Sessions featured both theoretical instruction and practical demonstrations ranging from simple exercises to complex flows and Suryanamaskar (sun salutations). Each session concluded with guided meditation designed to relax and rejuvenate attendees.

To foster greater interest in yoga among young people, the instructors organized yogasana competitions at several schools, creating an engaging atmosphere that encouraged participation.

The Additional Superintendent of Police, Tezpur, commended the three students for their efforts, recognizing the potential impact of such wellness initiatives on community health.
