Anti-Drug Awareness Rally Held in Tezpur: Rising Drug Crisis in Assam

Tezpur, 18 March: In a coordinated effort to combat the alarming rise of drug abuse across Assam, the Sonitpur District Students’ Union organized an anti-drug awareness rally at the district headquarters today. The demonstration was part of a statewide initiative called for by the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and Asom Unnati Sabha to address what has become a terrible social disease threatening the Assam’s youth.

The rise in illegal drugs and drug users has gone up in recent times in Assam, which is a very worrying matter. This trend is not only ruining young lives but devastating entire families. Participants marched through the streets carrying banners with anti-drug messages and calling for stronger enforcement against drug trafficking networks operating in the state. The rally drew attention to the expanding reach of narcotics beyond urban centers.

The scary part is that illegal drug use has now plagued not only cities but also rural and urban areas. If necessary actions are not taken, drugs will continue to ruin more and more lives. Officials from AASU emphasized the need for a multi-pronged approach involving law enforcement, educational institutions, and community organizations.
