Tezpur, November 23, 2025 (Sunday): The 78th National Cadet Corps (NCC) Day was marked with pride and patriotism across five districts of Assam. Institutions under the 5 Assam Battalion, Tezpur Group, held a variety of respectful and lively events to honour the occasion.

In Tezpur, the commemoration began with Brigadier Prashant Chauhan SM, Group Commander of the Tezpur NCC Group, leading a wreath‑laying ceremony at the historic 1962 War Memorial by the Brahmaputra River. The tribute honoured the brave soldiers who gave their lives during the 1962 Sino‑Indian War.

After the memorial service, cadets from the 5 Assam Battalion NCC organised cultural and patriotic programmes in all five districts. These activities showed their dedication to national values and their commitment to serving the country.

One of the main highlights was a re‑enactment of the Indian Army’s 2016 surgical strikes, performed by cadets at Darrang College. The display showed the discipline, energy, and motivation of the young participants, earning applause from the audience and highlighting the NCC’s role in inspiring youth to serve the nation.

Throughout the day, the Director General of NCC’s message was played at several venues, reminding everyone of the organisation’s core values. Cadets across the region renewed their pledge to nation‑building, unity, and strengthening society’s moral foundation. Founded in 1948, the NCC continues to play an important role in shaping disciplined, patriotic citizens and building leadership qualities among India’s youth.
