Tezpur, 7 March 2025: Tezpur University recently organized a successful National Seminar cum Workshop on Quantum Materials and Devices. The seminar was supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
The seminar featured expert lectures from renowned scientists and researchers in the field of quantum materials and devices, covering a wide range of topics. Prof. H. N. Ghosh, Director, National Institute of Science Education & Research, discussed ultrafast charge carrier dynamics at the interface of p-n semiconductor heterojunctions, while Prof. S. K. Ray, Former Director, S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata, explored light-matter interactions in 2D materials for quantum photonics.
Prof. A. Pathak, Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, spoke on photonics in the quantum era, and Prof. Amarendra Kumar Sarma of IIT Guwahati presented insights on hybrid superconducting qubit systems as a platform for quantum technology. Other notable speakers present were Prof. Prabodh Shukla of Northeastern Hill University, Prof. Saurabh Lodha of IIT Bombay, and Prof. Rajendra Singh of IIT Delhi. Prof. P. P. Sahu, Former Dean, School of Engineering, provided insights into different aspects of quantum optical technology.

A poster presentation was also organized, allowing participants to showcase their research findings in quantum materials and devices. Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh, Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University, congratulated the organizers, stating that the platform is an opportunity to collaborate on emerging advancements in quantum science and technology.
The event was aligned with the objectives of India’s National Quantum Mission, announced by the Honorable Prime Minister of India, which includes an investment of ₹6000 crore to advance quantum research and technology.
