Tezpur, May 31 : On occasion of “World No Tobacco Day 2023”, Tezpur Cancer Centre conducted an inhouse awareness programme on Tobacco and its ill effect with patients and their attendants along with TCC staffs followed by free Oral cancer screening programme. In the Programme Medical Superintendent Lt. Col. Dr. Sanjib Hazarika has started the program with this year’s theme “We need food, not tobacco” and Dr. Sanjeev K Gupta (Senior Radiation Oncologist) gave a presentation about ‘how Tobacco is harmful, and it leads to Cancer with data’.
Dr. Venkata Pradeep Koyyala Babu (Senior Medical Oncologist) delivered his speech on how second-hand smoking can also be the cause of Cancer. Dr Suhas V Navada and Mr Devajeet Kalita were also present in the event. The program was wrapped up with an oath “not to consume Tobacco further and not let others to do’. The program was conducted by District health manager Ms Dipti Moni Das.
