Tezpur, Sep 4 : In a latest development, a BEHAVIORAL ADDICTION CLINIC (BAC) was inaugurated on 4th Sep, 2021 by Dr Sonia P Deuri, Prof & HOD Department of PSW, Dean, Faculty of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences, Gauhati University at the Department of Addiction and Medicine, Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH), Tezpur, Assam.
The inauguration was done through virtual mode in the 1st National workshop by the Department of Addiction Medicine, LGB Regional Institute of Mental Health, and Tezpur through online mode on 4th of September 2021. The following eminent personalities were present, Prof S.K Deuri, Director, LGB Regional Institute of Mental Health, Dr Jyoti Hazarika, Medical Superintendent, LGBRIMH, Prof Manoj Kumar Sharma, Department of Clinical Psychology, NIMHANS, Dr. R.K Lenin Singh, Prof & HOD, Dept of Psychiatry, RIMS, Imphal,Dr. Deepanjali Medhi Das, Prof. & HOD Department of Psychiatry, GMCH, Guwahati, Dr Hemanta Dutta, In-charge Department of Addiction Medicine, LGBRIMH , Dr Arif Ali , Associate Professor, LGBRIMH and other faculties of LGBRIMH , Tezpur.
It is the first Behavioral Addiction Clinic (BAC) clinic in the entire north east of India and third in India after NIMHANS, Bangalore and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, to provide services and treatment for persons with behavioural addiction and technology- related mental health issues.The clinic will provide services to reduce the risks and minimize the harmful consequences associated with behavioural addiction (Preventive care and early intervention) and to develop strategies to handle behavioural addiction at individual, family and community levels. It will also create awareness and provide services at the school and colleges in the community about the behavioural addiction

- Gambling addiction
- Pornography addiction
- Shopping addiction.
- Video game addiction/ online game addiction
- Internet addiction
- Other behavioral addiction
Clinic timing
Outpatient services for assessment, evaluation, and treatment planning and counselling at individual and family level. Out-patient Days: Wednesday – Saturday Timings: 9.00 am onwards (Registration closes at 2 pm).
