Tezpur University’s NSS Cell Hosts Event on World Suicide Prevention Day Shining Light on Mental Health

Tezpur University’s NSS Cell organized an impactful event to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention among youth on September 10th, World Suicide Prevention Day. The event featured a powerful street play by NSS Volunteers, themed “CHANGING THE NARRATIVE OF SUICIDE START THE CONVERSATION” which vividly portrayed the struggles of those facing mental health challenges and highlighted the importance of timely support.

Prof. Manabendra Mandal, Dean of Students Welfare, delivered an inspiring inaugural address, emphasizing the need for open conversations about mental health and breaking the stigma surrounding suicide. He stressed that building a compassionate, supportive environment is essential for effective suicide prevention and that each individual has a role to play in creating hope and support for others.

The event was further enriched by the participation of Dr. Amiya Kr. Das, Programme Coordinator of NSS Cell, along with Programme Officers Dr. Apurba Saha, Dr. Sarmistha Das, Dr. Biplob Sarkar, and Dr. Srinivasan G. Their dedication ensured a well-coordinated program aimed at involving students and faculty alike in the cause of mental health awareness.
