Tezpur University Vice Chancellor, Prof Shambhu Nath Singh, interacted with the principals of various schools in the Tezpur area at the University today on December 10, 2024. These schools supported B.Ed. student trainees and faculty members of the Department of Education, TU, in completing their internship program. Principals of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tezpur University, Solmara High School, Army Public School, St. Mary’s School, Samdhara High School, and Fakharuddin Ali Ahmed High School were present on the occasion.
Delivering the inaugural address, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of teaching practice component as a foundation of the B.Ed. program. “Theory and textbooks can only teach so much, but it is in the classroom that real learning happens. Through, these internships practice our students gain hands-on experience in lesson planning, teaching methods, student interaction, and classroom management”, the Vice Chancellor said.
Dr Sashapra Chakrawarty, Head, Department of Education said that the students dedicate a whole semester to learn the practical skills so that they receive maximum practical exposure. During the day long program, the principals also shared their valuable feedback as to how such experience can be made more meaningful and impactful for the students. Dr. Pratima Pallai, faculty member of the Department of Education coordinated the internship program.
