Tezpur, June 21 : The North Assam Chamber of Commerce and Industry(NACCI) submitted a memorandum to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma on Saturday regarding flight connectivity for Tezpur. According to a report, their president was informed at around 6am in the morning by the airport director about CM’s landing at 8:30 am on 19th June. After which the president along with some office bearers which included Sunil Patni, Ramesh Kr. Garodia, Surendra Agarwal, Anup Jalan, Jatinder Sharma and Nilesh Agarwal submitted the memorandum. Members of Bharat Vikash Parishad, Tezpur were also present in the meeting.
The memorandum was addressed to Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma demanding his intervention to fulfill the long standing need of Tezpur town, that is, air connectivity to the metropolitan cities Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and other parts of India.
The organization put forward mainly the following demands:-
- Daily Service Tezpur Kolkata via Guwahati/Other North Eastern Airports
- Twice/Thrice Weekly Services Tezpur Delhi/Mumbai/Bangalore/Chennai Via Guwahati/Dimapur
- Dibrugarh-Tezpur-Guwahati to Delhi Mumbai/Bangalore/Chennai
They put forward various points in support of their demand. The unbelievably rich cultural heritage of the town along with its high demand of tourist places were the main among them. They also mentioned about the ease of transportation that will benefit the people of north Assam along with some districts of Arunachal. Besides the various defence units and other centres of active and vibrant organization mentioned below increases the need of rapid air connectivity.

At last the organization expresses its gratitude towards the CM for the various developments including Night Landing Facility/ Weatherproof Landing/ Any kind of Aircraft Landing Facility and also asks for its proper utilisation. They further add that their demands, if fulfilled, will be a step forward to make Tezpur a smart city.
