Minister U G Brahma visits Tezpur; consultative meeting held to discuss issues of Tribal people

Minister for Handloom and Textiles, Welfare of Bodoland departments and Chairman of the Advisory Committee Urkhao Gwra Brahma today held a consultative meeting at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Tezpur, Sonitpur and discussed several issues related to education, land rights of tribal people residing in Forest areas, and implementation of various Government schemes in these areas.

Present in the meeting were Chief Executive Member, BTC, Pramod Boro, CEM, Bodo Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council, Mihiniswar Basumatary, Principal Secretary, WPT&BC and WBD, Mukesh Chandra Sahu, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur, Bhupesh Das, Deputy Commissioner, Biswanath, Deba Kumar Mishra, other senior officials of Sonitpur and Biswanath district administration, BTC, BKWAC, DFOs of the two district along with leaders of All Bodo Students’ Union, representatives of Bodo Sahitya Sabha and other intellectuals of the society.

The Advisory Committee has been formed with the view to understand the needs, necessity and problems of people from the Bodo community living outside BTC in areas falling under Sonitpur and Biswanath districts. After today’s meeting with various stakeholders, the advisory committee will submit a report so that appropriate policy decisions can be taken to redress the issues of the people.
