AASU & Chamber of Commerce join forces with local business associations of Tezpur

In a show of solidarity, the All Assam Students Union (AASU) and the Chamber of Commerce, Tezpur convened a crucial meeting on May 9th, 2024, at the Sahitya Sabha Bhawan. Joining forces with the Assamese Byabashai Sanstha, Chowk Bazar Byabashai Sanstha, and Chowk Bazar Khudra Byabashai Sanstha, the gathering addressed pressing concerns facing the local business community.

The primary catalyst for the meeting was the recent urgent notice issued by the Labour Officer, mandating the closure of shops within the municipal area on Sundays. Additionally, small-scale businesses have been grappling with the burden of unusually high Goods and Services Tax (GST) fines, further exacerbating their challenges. These issues have raised alarms among entrepreneurs, prompting a united front to seek resolutions.

As a result of the deliberations, the collective organizations have resolved to submit a memorandum to the relevant authorities by tomorrow. This memorandum will outline their demands and seek relaxations for small business owners, who form the backbone of Tezpur’s economic landscape. The united stance aims to foster a more conducive environment for these enterprises to thrive and contribute to the region’s prosperity.
