The Department of Education, Tezpur University, successfully concluded its week-long workshop titled “School Internship in the Context of NEP 2020” held from 3rd to 9th April 2025. The workshop aimed to equip B.Ed. and M.Ed. students with the necessary skills, exposure, and reflective understanding required for effective classroom engagement under the NEP 2020 framework.
The valedictory session held on April 9th was graced by Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the centrality of experiential learning, inclusive pedagogy, and professional development in Teacher Education. Prof. Singh emphasized that the school internship is not merely a requirement but a transformative phase where student-teachers blend theoretical foundations with classroom realities.

The event was also addressed by Prof. Chandan Kumar Sharma, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Prof. Sharma said that the workshop brought diverse insights and practical knowledge required for effective classroom engagement. He hoped that the school internship workshop will be a step forward in the journey of professional growth of pre-service teachers. Dr. Sashapra Chakrawarty, Head, Department of Education, addressed the gathering and emphasised on carrying forward the promise of quality education to make a difference in the education system of the country.
A key highlight of the workshop was the development of more than 100 Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) by B.Ed. and M.Ed. second-semester students. These TLMs, prepared on a variety of topics across disciplines such as Language, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Mathematics, were displayed in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences building.
The workshop featured several sessions by esteemed resource persons and mentors from across the country and included hands-on training in micro-teaching, lesson planning, and assessment practices. A day was dedicated to sports-based experiential learning, adding physical engagement to intellectual development.
The workshop was jointly coordinated by Dr. Pratima Pallai and Dr. Sanghamitra Das, Assistant Professors in the Department of Education.
