Tezpur, June 5, 2025 (Thursday): Tezpur Municipal Board celebrated World Environment Day 2025 with a tree plantation drive focusing on the theme “Ending Global Plastic Pollution.” The event brought together Hon’ble MLA of Tezpur LAC Shri Prithiraj Rava, Ex-Chairperson Smti Puspa Deka, Ward Commissioners, Executive Officers, SHG members, municipal staff, and Safai Karmacharis.

The program featured multiple ongoing campaigns including “Women for Trees” and “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” under the AMRUT Mitra initiative. The tree plantation drive was conducted under DAY-NULM and Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) programs, emphasizing community engagement as the cornerstone of environmental conservation.
As a precursor to International Yoga Day, the event also included “Harit Yoga” (Green Yoga), integrating environmental consciousness with wellness practices. Organizers stated that “the main motto of the program was Community Engagement through Tree Plantation, which represents a valuable opportunity for us to raise environmental awareness and sustainable practices.”
The initiative demonstrated how local collaborative action between government officials, community leaders, and citizens can effectively address both immediate environmental needs and contribute to global environmental goals.
