Tezpur : Asomiya Club donates 1 Lakh towards re- establishment of Chowk Bazar to DC Fund

Tezpur, May 17 : In order to help towards the re-establishment of the shops and shopkeepers who faced heavy loss in the destructive fire that broke out in the Chowk Bazar, the Asomiya club of Tezpur has provided the Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur District with a cheque of one lakh rupees. Deputy Commisioner Manabendra Pratap Singh also announced that temporary shops would be constructed in no time by the Tezpur municipality so that the buisness can be restarted at the earliest.

In the terrifying fire that broke out in the wee hours of 9th may, more than three hundred shops were gutted down. On the very next day of this heart rendering misfortune, the Asomiya club of Tezpur organised an emergency digital meet and decided to provide financial support to the victims and requested the public for the same.

Just after the decision the club recieved immense response from the people of Tezpur as a result of which the club was able to provide a check of one lakh towards DC Fund.

The cheque was officially handed over to the Deputy Commisioner by the President of Asomiya club Dr Aruna Devi, editor Anu Devi Mahanta along with senior member Hemanta Lahkar, Pankaj Borah and Narayan Borthakur. Later, president Aruna Devi also requested other people and organization to come forward and provide help to the sufferers.
