Tezpur, Aug 22: A Special Cancer Awareness cum Screening Camp was organized at Headquarters, Chief Engineer (Project) Vartak in collaboration with the Border Roads Organisation, Project Vartak.
The awareness session was led by Dr. Sanjeev K Gupta, Senior Consultant & In charge, Dept. of Clinical Oncology, Tezpur Cancer Centre. Dr. Gupta delivered an insightful talk on the prevalence and risk factors of cancer, with special emphasis on oral, breast and cervical cancers in Northeast India. He highlighted recent advancements in cancer treatment and underscored the importance of regular screening, early detection and cervical cancer vaccination.
He also apprised the participants of the comprehensive cancer care services available at ACCF Hospitals and Tezpur Cancer Centre.Dr Selvaraj M, CMO HQ CE (P) Vartak emphasizing a shift from reactive treatment to proactive prevention.
The dignitaries present in the event were Ms. Dipti Moni Das, Zonal Coordinator; Dr Ankita Bhuyan, Dental Surgeon; trained nurses.The awareness session was followed by a cancer screening camp conducted by the Community Outreach Programme (COP) Team, Tezpur. The programme witnessed active participation from 60 personnel.
