Tezpur witnessed a significant enhancement to its sports infrastructure as two new volleyball courts were inaugurated on September 16, 2024. The ceremony took place at Hazarapar Stadium and Polo Field. The event was led by Shri Kausar Jamil Hilaly, IAS, Secretary to the Government of Assam, Sports & Youth Welfare Department, and Shri Prodip Timung, ACS, Director of Sports & Youth Welfare, Assam.
The inauguration was further graced by the presence of local officials, including Shri Deba Kumar Mishra, ACS, District Commissioner of Sonitpur, and Shri Pranjal Dehingia, District Sports Officer of Sonitpur, Tezpur. Their attendance underscored the importance of this development for the local community and the state’s dedication to promoting sports at the grassroots level.
These new facilities are expected to provide a much-needed boost to volleyball in Tezpur, potentially uncovering and nurturing new talent.
