Jigyasa Sandilya, a PhD scholar from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur and native of Tezpur, recently showcased her research on an international platform. Sandilya was selected to present her paper at the “4th Development Economics Conference” held at the University of Lincoln, United Kingdom, from June 24-26, 2024.

Jigyasa’s research paper, titled “External Aid and the Intensity of Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) Adoption Among Smallholder Farmers: A Study in a Major Flood-prone region of India,” focused on a critical aspect of agricultural adaptation to climate change. The study examined various Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices adopted by smallholder farmers in flood-prone districts of Assam, India. Importantly, it identified key factors that influence the intensity of CSA practice adoption among these farmers.

Sandilya’s work received positive feedback from these distinguished attendees, marking a significant achievement for the young researcher from Tezpur. This presentation not only highlights Sandilya’s contribution to the field of development economics but also underscores the relevance of her research in addressing climate change challenges in agriculture, particularly in vulnerable regions like Assam.
